Standing outside the Orlando Public Library along Magnolia Avenue in downtown Orlando, you may not notice “Light Waves”. There’s a lot going on in this area and the entrance to the library is around the corner on Central. If you only took a moment to stop and look around …
What looks to be a colorful design element on the side of the building is really an interactive art display. Blue, yellow, green and red “waves” move up the building, while a series of squares with hand-prints move along the wall below. Those prints are almost begging to be pushed.
But there’s more to this urban music machine than meets the eye …
Looking to your left, along the base of the planter, the small plaque picture below presents a riddle:

Upon solving this puzzle a musical celebration begins. The people that were previously just standing around may start to look over and wonder about your magical gifts. It’s not quite like being Robert Langdon in “The DaVinci Code”, but it’s fun nonetheless.
Maybe in a couple of weeks I’ll post a video of . Until then, get out and explore!

if you like musical instruments or music in general, then you’ll want to check out the Global Peace Film Festival taking place this week 20 minutes from Orlando in Winter Park FL at Rollins College.
The short film Uno covers three days of DIY and progressive organizations, companies, ticket-holders and campers sharing music and fun in the St. Augustine sun - all brought together to see 141 bands for 3 days by 2 brothers with 1 cause: The Harvest of Hope Foundation, which provides emergency financial assistance to migrant farmworkers and their families. With 17,000 attendees, this first annual grassroots festival was a huge success and dubbed “The Socially Conscious Florida Fest” by Spin Magazine. The film is a fun mix of music, interviews, insight and historical clips.
If your in the Orlando area on Thursday September 24 and are passionate about the Harvest of Hope Fest, you should definitely check out this film, although it’s a work in progress this 75 min. movie is a must see and will be shown at the Bush Auditorium at Rollins. There will also be live music outside the Auditorium before the screening.
