The Raven Twins or Bloody Mary?

Halloween Horror Nights

Which will be scarier, Howl-O-Scream at Busch Gardens Tampa or Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando?

See videos previewing Halloween Horror Nights 18

They appear to be very similar in nature, with haunted houses, scare zones and live shows promising to thrill guests to all hours of the night. There are VIP tours, dinner shows and “getaway” packages, too, offering to take the fright level up another level. Roller coasters and other prime attractions will also be open to round out the adventure.

But is one scarier than the other?

This will be the 18th year for Halloween Horror Nights. Howl-O-Scream has been around for nearly a decade. By now they’ve each learned plenty on what it takes to scare even the most fearless of guests. It’s clear that their advertising departments know what they’re doing. At least when it comes to creating fear-inducing billboards.

Both events begin this weekend. Which one are you afraid of?

Howl-O-Scream was a huge disappointment last year–it was a huge waste of money. Universal has always delivered with their entertainment and has never held back ideas in fear of being called “not politically correct.” There were rumors floating that HHN would become kid friendly. I think it’s obvious that that wasn’t even a consideration this year.

[…] musical comedy will put anyone in a good mood. It’s the perfect balance to all of the “scary” events going on around Orlando at this time of […]

I have been going to Halloween Horror Nights for 8 years, and for the first time last year I went to Howl-O-Scream, and both are incredibly enjoyable. Although HHN has more detail and better scares, I found myself preferring HoS over it. HoS is less crowded, cheaper and has roller coasters! After going to HHN for so many years, I was shocked to be able to hit up HoS and leave having done EVERYTHING in one night. That doesn’t mean I’ll stop attending HHN though. HHN was the original and will always have a special place in my heart. I just think there are a lot of things they could do improve it. Ex: Allow less people into the event and lower the overall prices. Oh well, can’t have it all, right? I can’t wait to attend both this year!

who the hell r the raven twins i never heard of them a day in my life

Bloody Mary She is Way More Popular Howl-O-Scream Should Have Picked A Better Theme.

I’ll be hitting up Howl-O-Scream this weekend. I’ve never attended either event before so it should make for an interesting introduction. Either way I suppose you get huge lines and loud teenagers, but I hope Howl-O-Scream is a little lighter than Universal in terms of wait times. We’ll see!

I work at Busch gardens and I have never been to HHN but I was able to attend the HoS event. It is possible to do everything in one night and ride the rides. Even the water rides are open. The roaming hoards aren’t really there. I was under the impression that everywhere in the park was one big scare zone but I was wrong. Some of the houses are a bit better than last year (there is a house where the people scare you from the roof). Reconstruction house was the best (they keep you in a dark hallway for a good amount of time whilst the scarers run around you). The open scare zones aren’t as good. It is better to go with a group of people. Just watch out for the drunk 21 year olds. They spill beer on people a lot. And some parents even bring their kids to the event which can get really annoying. Other than that, the shows are O.K. Even though there are slutty nurses, the show itself seemed a bit kiddy to me.

I did attend howl o scream Friday Oct 3rd. I thought the event last year was much better done. The fright factor was low to moderate but OMG the Raven Twins were hot.

  9. 9. Rita says:

Lol @ Felisha..and I’m with her. Who da hell are the Raven Twins? And what horrible thing did they ever do but sew ugly date dresses?lol

  10. 10. ss says:

The Raven Twins are not based on any real story, it is just a made up back story to give the theme an air of authinticity, (m.s) Anyway, you won’t find any reality to the Raven Twins

IM GOING THIS FRIDAY, BUT I PREFFER BLOODY MARY THAN THE RAVEN TWINS CUZ BLOODY MARY IS A LEGEND! I HAVE HEARD ABOUT HER SINCE I WAS IN 3RD OR 2ND GRADE! i wanna attend HoS too but at this moment, HHN is awesome =)

I don’t understand how anybody could like Halloween Horror Nights. I waited an hour and a half just to get into a cheesy haunted house. Last year sucked so bad. I only was able to get into 2 haunted houses the whole night..so crowded. You guys that like Halloween Horror nights must live nearby…I live in the Tampa Bay area and it is just not worth the money unless you’re going to stay multiple nights. Sorry!! This year I will be doing the H-O-S thing…

  14. 14. Danny says:

My girlfriend and I attended H-O-S this past weekend and had a great time. The park was not crowded at all. The longest line we made was 20 min for Montu. We did all the haunted houses and rode all the roller coasters in two hours. A couple of the houses weren’t great, but they were still enjoyable. I used to go to HHN, but the crowds and the price are just too much at this point. I highly recommend H-O-S.

  15. 15. kimberly says:

i belive the raven twins are less affective than bloody mary. bloody mary is on my mirror. so both of them are not scary

  16. 16. carl s says:

    the raven twins are hot

  17. 17. emily says:

ive been going to HOS for 3 years and it is so fun! you get a great deal on prices and no long lines unlike HHN. the haunted houses are so scary and the shows ill admit are a little cheesy. but it is overall a way better event than hhn!the scare zones are really good too. i will be going next thursday and i know it will be another great year!!!

  18. 18. Mariya says:

    OMG!!
The Raven Twins were the BEST!!
My friend, Lea and I went together last night.(10-10-08)
It was the best time of my life, Seriously!! There were clowns and bloody people following you. It was SO SCARY!!

  19. 19. GRACE says:

I WILL BE GOING TO HOS THIS THURSDAY (10/16/08) I’VE NEVER BEEN TO HOS THIS IS MY FIRST TIME I’VE ALWAYS GONE TO HHN AND YES THE LINES ARE SOO LONG WE WERE ONLY ABLE TO GET IN 2 OR 3 HAUNTED HOUSES AND WELL THATS ALL FOR THE NIGHT PLUS VERY EXPENSIVE!! AND VERY CROWDED.

  20. 20. Danyelle Cullen (TWILIGHT FAN) says:

OMG i HATE HHN it sucked! There was sooo many drunk ppl and i only went in 2 haunted houses! HOS is soooooooo much better! When i went last night (10-18-08) i got to go in ALL the houses and rode most of the rides…so i think raven twins are better then bloody mary…

  21. 21. Danny says:

I had the time (and the money) to attend both events! Final decision - HOS!!!
HHN definitely had better looking houses (and I am a bigger fan of the Universal Studios theme park than Busch Gardens) and the commercials for Bloody Mary were freaky awesome… but…
Busch Gardens put way more heart into this one.
On Saturday, although the lines looked long, they went by FAST. The scaring part? Scare actors came much more frequent, better done, more fun. Shows? ehhh, cheesy. Skip those and ride instead.

  22. 22. kellie says:

i think bloody mary theme is a wast of money. everybodey knows bloody mary and nobodyknows the raven twins. so bye something that people dont know and there cureosity will take them there.do see what i meen?Or you can do something everybody knows and they might say “I know that legend, its lame dont go there its a wast of your money.”so with that said do you think universal will win or bushgardens.

  23. 23. britney says:

i like the raven twins alot better they are funner and more real plus all the haunted houses at howl o scream will beat halloween horror nights any day

  24. 24. KillerBee says:

Although HHN 2008 is a big improvement over last year’s event (I was hugely disappointed in ‘07), Bloody Mary left me a little underthrilled. Why? Because she was pretty much nowhere to be found. I waited an hour for Reflections of Fear, and it was the weakest house I went in. I saw BM’s face in a mirror ONCE, and the rest of the house was full of creepy doctors and nurses that didn’t do much more than look at you menacingly. There was ONE good scare in the whole house. Body Collectors and ScaryTales were my favorites, with stunning visuals and really good scares. Many of the scares in the houses disappoint me a little because the actors spend too much time lurking and staring at you instead of trying to startle and horrify. Either that or every actor just bangs on something when you go by. That’s lame. I also keep catching them drop out of character to talk to people, which ruins the atmosphere for me.

Everyone knows that Universal obviously has the advantage because they’re a movie studio and have an unlimited budget to make amazing sets/costumes/effects makeup, but Howl-O-Scream has something that Halloween Horror Nights doesn’t seem to have, and that is actors that are 100% into what they’re doing. I know the folks that work HOS, and they live for it. There are people that have been doing it all 9 years it’s been in existance. If HHN actors had half the pride and drive that HOSers did, the houses would be 100% scarier.

  25. 25. blah blah says:

the raven twins are a legend. they are lara and lana, siamese twins who were conjoined at the face. then the only real man that ever payed any attention to them was a doctor, who they fell in love with, but he was engaged. so lara and lana killed the doctor and his fiance. then the raven twins took the skin from the fiances face and sewed it onto their own. and lana took 1 of her eyeballs.

  26. 26. gloria says:

what the hell is with the raven twins whats their story?

  27. 27. kiana says:

4 the 1st I went to both Hallween Horror Nights and Howl-o-scream. I think that Howl-o-scream was way better

  28. 28. eddie says:

    ok,
Why be scared of a fake lady who “leaps-out-of-a-mirror-and-rips-your-face-off,” instead of two drop dead gorgeous twins (with half a face) who can ACTUALLY rip your face off. Yeah, so what they were short. But I was way more scared of them then Blood Mary.
It was a hype. And from what I hear, Bloody Mary’s place was a piece of crap. BUT…The Raven Twins will scare you at every turn. In all, HOS was WAY better, and totally imersive.

  29. 29. eddie says:

Also, The Raven twins fell in love with a guy, he called them freaks, so…to get revenge, they seperated themselves by force, in order to kill the guys who see their faces. *sigh* They were hot, and Revenge is such a beautiful thing

  30. 30. joe says:

raven twins r hoter than bloody mary

  31. 31. Mairym says:

i think that the raven twins were fun but halloween horror nights was way better but the idea was to entertain people… but bloody mary waz way scarier than the raven twins but both were fun..universal studios always finds a way to scary people and they never run out of ideas so its pretty cool… HALLOWEEN HORROR NIGHT… U ROCK!!!

  32. 32. Amanda A. Jones says:

so i went to HHN instead of H-O-S.
i wish i would have went to H-O-S because HHN was a sad disappointment. and it was also the first time i have ever been….this was back in 08 when i went tot he bloody mary theme…
i mean it was alright but i would have much rather preferred to go see the raven twins..
