Set the Halloween mood with a ghost tour

HalloweenHalloween is a one, maybe two-day event for me in most years. If I get a costume at all, it’s usually not fully realized until the latest possible moment.

However, in looking at the search terms that are bringing visitors to Living Orlando, Halloween appears to be more of a one or two-month search for all of the scary things to do around town in late October. If this sounds like you, I’ve got at least one idea for you leading up to Halloween.

Step into the world of the unknown with Kissimmee Ghost Tour’s “Ghost & History Tour” for a hair-raising ninety-minute stroll into the spirit realm of Kissimmee. You’ll hear tales of murder, mayhem and mystery and search along the shadowy streets and alleys of Kissimmee’s Historic Downtown District.

For example, there are stories about a young girl who plays, to this day, in a playground and loves to makes the swing sets swing. There’s also a story about the “Ghost of the Lake” and how he still haunts the lake looking for the dock.

Best of all you’ll get to see some of the paranormal pictures taken along the tour route and are even encouraged to bring a camera to capture paranormal pictures of your own.

Tours are a available nightly, and require and advanced registration. The price for adults is $19, children 8 to 12 are $9, and kids under 8 are free. To make a reservation, simply call 321-251-5204 or visit www.hauntedkissimmee.com for complete information.

If you take any good pictures, send them to us at Living Orlando and we’ll post them on the site. We’re definitely lacking in pictures of Orlando-area ghosts.

I did the downtown Orlando ghost tour about a year ago, and was extremely disappointed. I hope the Kissimmee tour is more interesting.

Another thing to do that is free but only takes up a couple of minutes of your time is Spook Hill.
Spook Hill is near Bok Sanctuary in Lake Wales. http://boksanctuary.org
It is not specifically a Halloween thing but it is a little spooky and fun. It’s a nice day trip to first visit the gardens than check out Spook Hill. http://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/2058

I’d like to post a video of Spook Hill here on Living Orlando. Maybe I’ll make a trip out to the Lake Wales area during September.

The guide was really great and we learned so much about kissimmee! The haunted places are very spooky and we did capture alot of activity on our camera’s. We will bring more friends and go back again!
