Dining out on “Wine Wednesdays”

Wine Wednesdays at Carrabba's

As mentioned last week, wednesdays at Carrabba’s are all about wine.

“Wine Wednesdays”, an event exclusive to Florida, features a $10 discount on every bottle they have in stock. It’s the perfect opportunity to try something new and to share with family and friends over a great dinner.

This week, my wife and I decided to head over to Carrabba’s to take advantage of their offer. It was the first time in a while that we’d been there, since there’s only a handful of locations in Orlando. They’re not on every street corner like some chains.

After reviewing the menu, my wife decided on the Angel Hair Picchi Pacchiu, while I opted for one of their current specials, Piatto di Pollo. Both dishes were superb. My meal, which featured a combination of the Chicken Bryan, chicken topped with Port wine sauce, vegetable ravioli and sauteed asparagus was nothing short of spectacular. Each of the items on the plate was something I’d order again, especially the Chicken Bryan and the vegetable ravioli.

The star of the evening, however, was the wine. Being a fan of wines from the Russian River Valley in California, we decided on the Angeline pinot noir from the Soracco & Rocking B vineyards. Our waiter was excited that we had ordered this particular wine, and informed us that it was one of his wife’s favorites since it was a red wine that wasn’t too dry and paired well with the food. While I’m a fan of big reds, this lighter style was very pleasant and drinkable on all levels.

Overall, the dinner was superb and was surely enough to bring us back for more. I think next Wednesday night is open.
