UCF hosts Conference USA championship this weekend

After a regular season to remember, the University of Central Florida will host the Conference USA championship game this Saturday at noon. Their opponent will be the Golden Hurricane of Tulsa, a team the Knights defeated earlier in the season by the score of 44-23 thanks to a season-high four interceptions. If UCF can repeat that performance, they will earn an invitation to the Liberty Bowl in Memphis on December 29.

The game will be played at Bright House Networks stadium on UCF campus, which has quickly become one of the best places in the state to watch college football. All six home games from this season are in the top-10 of all-time largest crowds for a UCF home game, seeing more than 40,000 fans at each game. Three of these games were announced as sellouts and the Memphis game saw a total of 46,103 fans through the turnstyles.

Congratulations to the Knights players, coaches and fans. Playing for a conference championship is something that the Gators, Seminoles, Bulls and Owls will not be doing this year. For now, UCF, that stage is yours alone in the state of Florida.

NOTE: This article originally noted that the game was being played at the Citrus Bowl, however, the game is indeed being played at Bright House Networks Stadium. When I “Googled” “UCF Hosts Championship“, I clicked the first link which was an article for the game two years ago. Since the teams were the same and the PDF download of the game notes was for this year’s game, I thought the first part of the article was also related to the current season. Sorry for the confusion.

Must be set wrong in the Press Release but for sure that game will be at BHNS. I already have my tickets and it says BHNS on them.

Gavin … I should have looked closer at the article I was reading … Since the game notes PDF was for the current year, I assumed that the article was too … I’ve added a note to this post … Thanks

Game is approaching a sell out. Probably won’t have more than another day to pick up tickets.

If you anyone hasn’t made the trip out to east Orlando to check out the new facility, Saturday will be a great time!
