While the theme parks are busy readying their major holiday offerings and Santa’s helpers are heading out to the malls, local playhouses also are getting into the holiday spirit by welcoming Christmas plays to their stages. Here’s a short preview of three of the upcoming shows.
“It’s a Wonderful Life”

From one of the most beloved holiday films of all time, it’s the story of true Christmas spirit. See how Clarence, a guardian angel, gets his wings by saving the life of George Bailey, a Bedford Falls resident struggling to get ahead and live out his dreams.
“A Tuna Christmas”
Nov. 28-Dec. 23 at Orlando Shakespeare Theater
It’s Christmas in the small town of Tuna, Texas. Sit back and enjoy the hilarity of the town’s two radio personalities that report on all of the small-towns goings on, such as Tuna’s annual yuletide yard display contest.
“Celebrate Me Home: A Holiday Cabaret”
Nov. 30-Dec. 15 at Winter Park Playhouse
Celebrate the season with music from favorite holiday films, television and radio.
