Candlelight Processional Tips

I got an email the other day asking for information on how to get tickets for the Candlelight Processional performances at Epcot starting on November 23rd. The person was getting frustrated with the Disney call center, either because she was on hold forever, or because the representative was telling her something she didn’t want to hear - that most of the Candlelight Processional shows are sold out. Both cases are very possible, as the holiday season is one of the busiest times at the Walt Disney World resort and the Candlelight Processional is one of the most popular events.

There is hope, however, you just have to be patient.

The first option for getting into the show is to purchase a Candlelight Dinner Package through the call center (407-WDW-DINE). These packages are priced at three different levels and include dinner at one of Epcot’s signature restaurants and a reserved seat at a specific showing of the Candlelight Processional. While I don’t have exact pricing for these packages, I know that they are very reasonable for what’s included. The only catch with these packages is what I mentioned previously … they sell out fast.

The second option is to get in the “standby” line near the right-hand entrance to the American Gardens Theatre. You’ll need to be there at least an hour prior to the show you want to see, if not earlier. As long as you bring a book or have someone to talk to, this time will go by in a flash. You might even ask the Disney cast members that are watching the line if it’s OK to let one person hold a place for your entire party. If this is still allowed, go buy that person a nice warm beverage and then go have fun for an hour.

The final option is to bypass the seating area of the show entirely. If you stand behind the theatre, next to the popcorn carts and souvenir booths, the show is just as magical and you’ll only have to be in position 15-20 minutes ahead of time. I’ve done this for a number of performances and find it extremely convenient when I don’t have the time to stand in line.

However it works for you, stay patient and don’t give up on seeing the show, especially if you’re going to be out at Epcot. It’s an event my family has been to since I was a kid and many families have made the Candlelight Processional an annual tradition.
