Today is your last chance to submit a story for our Thankful for the Holidays contest. The author of the winning story will receive a $50 gift card to The Fresh Market in order to help out with their holiday groceries (although the gift card doesn’t expire). You could also use the $50 to buy goods for your church, school or favorite charity.

To enter, all you need to do is write a couple sentences or more about a Thanksgiving memory. While it would be great to hear some stories related to the Central Florida area, that is not a requirement. Just make sure your submission is in by 7:00pm EST tonight.

I was recently at The Fresh Market and after looking around to see what $50 might buy, I think I could put together an entire Thanksgiving meal for that amount. It wouldn’t be an enormous feast, but I’d easily be able to get a turkey, vegetables, potatoes and even a few small desserts. You could also go with a few extravagances like a bottle of wine and a couple lobster tails, or stick with the staples and load up on pasta and a case of Sam Marzano crushed tomatoes, the best base for a tomato sauce you’ll ever find.
