101 Things You Never Knew About Walt Disney World - The Review

November’s book of the month is “101 Things You Never Knew About Walt Disney World”, by Kevin Yee. As always, one commenter will be selected near the end of the month to receive a free copy. We’ll announce the cutoff dates next week in our wrapup.

The Review
“101 Things” is a book for Disney-lovers that want to know the story behind the story for a number of locations within the Walt Disney World resort. Focusing on the four theme parks - Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney-MGM Studios and Animal Kingdom - the book reviews the decisions made by designers along with some history of various elements in the parks. It even discloses a few secrets that the average person might miss.

While the information isn’t mind-blowing in all cases, the book is still a good source of background knowledge for each of the theme parks. For me, each of the items gets more interesting as you read down the page, with the “furthermore” section containing the tidbits that I’d use to quiz my travel companions. For example, do you know the story behind the skeletons that used to be playing chess in the Pirates of the Caribbean?

In all, “101 Things” is a great book to take with you on a vacation to Disney World. Whether you read it on the plane trip or car ride down, or while you’re on the monorail between parks, or even in line at Soarin’ or Expedition Everest, your waiting time will be spent talking about all of your newly-learned behind the scenes info. You’ll probably even enjoy your waiting time a little more as you’ll be able to take a good look at some of the hidden design elements and maybe even find some on your own.

Summary
