If you’ve driven along I-4 in the attractions area of town lately you’ve no doubt noticed that the Dixie Stampede dinner show already has their enormous lighted Christmas tree set up out front. Well, that’s not all - they also have already begun their seasonal “Christmas at Dixie” show, which will run through the New Year.
Yep, that’s right, Christmas in October. It gets earlier every year.
Christmas at Dixie is fairly similar to the regular Dixie Stampede show, with the main difference being that in place of the usual “North versus South” Civil War feel to the performance, the audience is instead divided into sides representing the North Pole and the South Pole. The costumes and music are much more holiday oriented, there’s a nice falling snow effect, and one scene of the show is changed out to feature a live nativity scene. The food is the same - rotisserie chicken, BBQ pork, vegetable soup, potato, corn of the cob, biscuit, dessert and beverages, all served without utensils - but your servers are dressed as elves. And, of course, the show still contains stunt horse riders, the ring of fire and ostrich races.
