This week’s favorites will surely get your mouth watering. There’s nothing like a great big breakfast on a lazy Sunday morning to round out the weekend.

The best breakfast (well, technically brunch – but in my book that’s much better anyway) is the Brunch at Villa de Flora, which takes place on Sundays only (noon to 3pm) at Gaylord Palms. This Mediterranean-inspired setting and all-you-can eat (though unlike some brunches the mimosas cost extra – I learned that one the hard way) upscale menu offers up six kitchen stations and more than 70 items, many made to order. So, when you tire of picking the perfect ingredients for your freshly-made omelet you can move on to selecting the perfect pasta combo. It’s totally decadent. Come with an empty stomach and a full pocketbook.

By far the best breakfast I’ve discovered in Orlando is at Mimi’s Café by Mall at Millenia. The menu is huge and diverse - everything from eggs and bacon, to fresh-baked muffins and stuffed french toast. The presentation of each dish is colorful and as tasty as it is lovely. In addition to the regular breakfast menu, Mimi’s now is offering seasonal breakfasts, such as fall-themed pumpkin pancakes that come covered in warm cinnamon apples. If you do choose Mimi’s for breakfast, bring a big appetite. Stacks of already-huge pancakes and french toast come also come with eggs and bacon. It’s almost too much food!

First off, I’m one of those bad people that doesn’t eat breakfast regularly, so when I do look for food in the morning, it’s usually a bagel with cream cheese and tall glass of OJ from Panera or Einstien Bros. However, there is one place in town that I’ve always wanted to try for that truly indulgent experience. That place is the House of Blues and their Sunday Morning Gospel Brunch.
It’s a bit expensive for breakfast, at around $34 for adults, but the entertainment is included and the menu is enormous. According to the House of Blues website, the brunch features “Fresh Pastries, Croissants, Muffins, Cinnamon Buns, Assorted Fresh Fruit, Cooked Chilled Prawns with Cocktail Sauce, Ceasar Salad, Field Greens with Spiced Pecans with blue cheese crumbles and tomato shallot vinaigrette, Broccoli Salad w/Crispy Bacon, Creole Potato and Asparagus Salad, Scrambled Eggs, Roast Potatoes, Cheese Grits, Bacon and Sausage, Biscuits and Country Gravy, Homemade Waffles, Made to Order Omelette Station, BBQ Chicken, Creole Chicken Jambalaya, Cornmeal Crusted Catfish, Delta Red Beans & Rice, Macaroni & Cheese, Turnip Greens, Fresh Baked Corn Muffins, Roast Top Round of Beef, Honey Baked Ham, Apple Cobbler, White Chocolate Banana Bread Pudding, Key Lime Pie, Pecan Squares, Cheesecake, and Chocolate Walnut Brownies.”
“Holy” cow, indeed.
Where in Orlando do you go for the perfect breakfast?

Mimi’s is my favorite for straight-up breakfast fare as well. I adore their Monterey Omelette (with avocado, bacon, salsa and cheese) with one of their seasonal muffins (the pumpkin one they have this time of year is to die for).
There is actually another Mimi’s in Hunter’s Creek. Also, I saw a Mimi’s on the list of upcoming restaurants at the Winter Garden Village.
