Candy corn. Love it or hate it, when you see the orange, yellow and white candies on store shelves each year, you know what it means. Halloween is coming.
With Halloween, there’s trick-or-treating. With trick-or-treating, there are costumes. With costumes, there are opportunities.
Opportunities to scare. Opportunities to laugh. Opportunities to disguise. Opportunities to … well … do just about anything these days.
Whether you know exactly what you want to be, or if you’re still not quite sure, the Halloween stores around town have you covered. From the tamest of the classic costumes like cowboys and witches, to the more grown-up costumes that I can’t quite believe anyone actually wears, there’s at least one store that’s got what you’re looking for.
One of the more popular stores that shows up this time of year is Spirit Halloween, which carries all of the costumes, masks, make up, accessories, and decorations that you’ll ever need - as long as you can find one of their stores. Since they’re only open for a couple of months, they don’t have consistent locations each year. Instead, they find available space at locations large enough to hold their massive inventory and set up shop. Luckily, their website (www.spirithalloween.com) has a store locator that will identify the location nearest to you.
Other places to look are, of course, Target, Wal-Mart, any of the malls, party stores and - if you’re brave enough (and old enough) - adult stores like Fairvilla Megastore. Costumes really have gone a long way since I was trick-or-treating as a kid.
Where are you getting your costume this year? Better yet, what are you going to be for Halloween?

Note: I am posting a comment to get the free book you advertised about.
Candy corn! Its a love-hate situation, isnt it? According to one very funny man Lewis Black, all the candy corn in the world was made in the year of our Lord 1911. Apparently, there isnt much consumption of said food to warrant further production. Yes, its true, it tastes like gasoline.
Nevertheless, Halloween s upon us and that means I get to eat some candy other brings to work. Yep, thats the extent of my participation. I live in a gated, secure building, so I doubt any kid is showing up at my door.
P.S. I hope I win the book.

yrautca … thanks for reading Living Orlando … as for no kids stopping by on Halloween, I’m not sure if there’s a place that kids won’t try these days. Unless you’re community doesn’t have any children, I’d expect at least one or two knocks on the door. Always good to buy candy just in case. I’ve never had a problem with leftovers.

I love candy corn. Every year I bite off the white tip and pretend I broke a tooth. My grandma always falls for it. Ha.
