October has arrived, and along with it is our first monthly review and giveaway of a book related to Orlando’s entertainment opportunities. This series of reviews, however long it lasts, will hopefully give us all a chance to learn a little more about the city and all it has to offer. With any luck, the books we choose will guide us along a path that is exciting, entertaining and eye-opening all at once. There’s no doubt that someone will be lucky since we’ll be giving away this and every book we review at the end of each month. See the Book Review and Giveaway page for more details.
For this initial review, we’ve chosen the book “Great Dates Orlando: 52 Ways to Discover Orlando’s Romantic Side“, by Kristen Manieri, aka “The Date Diva”. As noted on the Great Dates website, Kristen moved to Orlando in 2006 and immediately began looking for things to do with her husband around the city. The results of that search have culminated into this very interesting title followed by 141 pages of ideas for adding a little romance into our lives.
As a native Orlandoan, I’m excited to note that with only a quick glance through the pages I see a handful of of ideas for places I’ve always wanted to visit and even a few that I’d never considered. There also appears to be a set of visual cues throughout the book to let the reader know what each date idea is good for and what to expect. This should be a quick, and worthwhile read.
Over the next few weeks, as I have the chance to actually read the book, I’ll post a couple articles on what I like or dislike about it. All of these articles will be linked to from the Book Review and Giveaway page, so if you think you’ve missed something, check there first.
