Events at Leu Gardens

In the middle of downtown Orlando you can find Leu Gardens, which features three miles of paved scenic walkways that take you through fifty acres of southern styled gardens. The gardens are quite a sight to behold, and they offer natural peace, quiet and beauty unlike what you’d expect to find in a city environment. These gardens serve as a little retreat from the hustle and bustle of the outside world. Stop and smell the roses (literally) and let butterflies flitter about your head and you’ll feel for a moment like you stepped into a fairytale.

Aside from the natural beauty of the place, and the extremely cheap entrance price, the gardens also host numerous events on site.

On the third Monday of each month (in this case that would be September 17), Leu Gardens partners with the Orange County Library System to present Storytelling at Leu Gardens, starting at 10 a.m. This month’s event includes face painting, tea, juice and cookies for free. During these events children will hear stories, as well as participate in songs and rhymes.

The gardens also host “Date Night” once a month. The next Date Night is Friday, October 5. On this night the garden will open at 6 p.m., and visitors can enjoy an outdoor movie (in this case it’s Moonstruck) at 8:30 p.m., weather permitting. Bring a blanket or chairs and a picnic basket. It’s only $5 plus tax for adults and $1 plus tax for children.

Leu Gardens also hosts numerous other events, including folk music concerts, ghost stories at Halloween, a jazz festival and more. For more information visit their Web site.
