Walt Disney World: The “Sweetest” Place on Earth

Royal Slipper Dessert I have to admit that while many adults consider a trip to Disney as an excuse to splurge on souvenirs, spa treatments, breakfasts with Mickey, or expensive restaurants, my idea of true Disney indulgence is taking in the best desserts the resort has to offer.

When it comes to satisfying a sweet tooth, here are my top five recommendations:

5) Mickey Bars - While these traditional chocolate-coated ice cream bars aren’t anything fancy, they are a staple of Disney theme parks and a great dessert to enjoy on the go or while waiting in line at an attraction. (Sold at all theme parks)

4) Sparkling Volcano - This dessert is designed for more than one person to enjoy. It consists of several scoops of vanilla ice-cream, pieces of brownie and chocolate sauce. The servers also yell “Volcano!” when they bring it out. A great choice if you want to really indulge in chocolate. (Rainforest Cafe, Downtown Disney Marketplace)

3) Kitchen Sink - This would be number one, but this dessert loses points for messiness. Served in a miniature kitchen sink, the dessert features several scoops of different flavors of ice cream, whipped cream, and a variety of assort toppings. This dessert is designed to be family style, as one can NOT finish it themself. (Beaches & Cream, Disney’s Beach Club Resort)

Grapefruit Cake2) Grapefruit Cake - Based on a recipe from the original Brown Derby restaurant in Hollywood, this cake is a perfect combination of sweetness and tart. There’s nothing else like it. (Hollywood Brown Derby, Disney-MGM Studios)

1) Cinderella’s Royal Slipper Dessert - This solid white chocolate slipper is filled with rich chocolate mousse. The white chocolate and rich mousse are a perfect balance for one another. The overall charm of the dessert is enough to warrant a picture. (Victoria & Albert’s, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa)

Hmm…You missed the ice cream cookie sandwich on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom with the homemade cookies and the just in time inserted block of ice cream. :) One of my favorites!
