The 5th Annual Evening at the Pops featuring the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, will take place in Winter Garden, Fla., Saturday, Sept. 8.

This free performance will take place at Newton Park behind Tanner Hall, starting at 6 p.m. My family and I went to this last year and plan on going again this year. Families are welcome to bring picnic baskets, blankets and chairs. Food also is sold on-site.

If you have kids, by far one of the best aspects of this performance is the pre-concert “Instrument Petting Zoo.” This event starts at 4 p.m. this year, and allows kids to try out instruments they may be interesting in learning to play in the future. They also can talk to members of the orchestra about music.
