A better way to wait in line

SoarinForget FastPass. Disney now has invented a better way to wait in line by offering guests a chance to participate in group interactive video games.

Guests in line for Soarin’ at Epcot can now engage in an interactive experience that combines large video screens and motion-detection technology. Guests are divided into teams based on which screen they are standing in front of, and play by moving their arms or bodies in synch with one another in attempt to complete tasks, such as flying a bird through a narrow river canyon, or launching paint balls against a digital canvas to reveal hidden images.

A series of five large video screens (each approximately 11 feet by 20 feet) showcase increasingly more challenging games as guests move through the line.

Word on the street is these games are actually harder than you’d think. It will be interesting to see firsthand just how many guests actually participate in them. Either way, it should make that long, long line a lot more interesting.
